Hello Dog and Puppy Lovers! Allan Codling here and I want to give you some dog training advice and two thumbs up if you are a canine lover and you are trying to train your dog. If you are not training him/her I really recommend you do. It's fulfilling, fun, it works and it does not cost as much as dog training classes. A lot of people have this idea in their mind that training is solely a learning experience for their pup. But in reality you are learning as well. You learn how to really connect with your dog.

Dog Training Advice- Do Not Make This Mistake

So, we get our beagle and we name it Snow! We realize it is better to be the one training the dog right? So we look for information on how to train dogs and we follow a program that promotes a training method that will fully train any type of dog in the world! Nooooo!!!! Big Mistake! Bad dog training advice! There are so many garbage training books that try to tell you that there is this one size fits all dog training method that works for any dog. That simply is not true! Well I should say it is not 100% true. Let me explain.

When you first start to train your dog, you should start with basic training. Now basic training methods are fundamental and can be applied to all dogs. These methods are just the general foundation that you build when training your dog and these methods apply to any and every dog. An example would be the positive reinforcement method. This is a fundamental method where you train your dog by praising and rewarding him or her with treats when they complete a task or display good behavior!

Unfortunately these methods are just to general to completely train you pooch. They are not enough to address dog behavior problems, obedience, how a dog interacts with adults, children, other dogs and other animals. You need more advance training methods that are designed to train that particular breed of dog to get your dog completely trained. For instance, Chow Chows are known as one of the most aggressive of all dogs. Labradors however are very docile. So using Labrador training methods to cure Chow Chow aggression will not work. You follow?

Please let this information marinate. I have many friends and family members that went and adopted a dog because they looked cute and then attempted to just train it with just basic training methods. Their dogs sit alright. But their furniture, shoes and pretty much anything in the household has been chewed on including the family and occasional visitors :o). So I hope you found this dog training advice useful! Take care and say hi to the pooch for me.
