Hello. My Name's Allan Codling.

It is always great to have a dog or puppy be part of the family. But we know they are a big responsibility and we have to get them trained. So we start looking for some dog training advice. There are a lot of ways to train a dog. But you need to start with the basics. The first form of dog training you should start off with is dog obedience training. This form of training will make your dog obedient which will him/her become potty trained and well behaved.

A lot of dog owners want to just potty train their dogs and forget about the obedience factor. What they do not realize is it is much more difficult to get your dog potty trained without the regular practice of obedience training. It makes it even more difficult to correct behavior problems like chewing, biting, jumping and aggression. It all starts with dog obedience training.

Puppies follow what is known as a pack mentality. They follow a leader and it is you who must be your dog's leader. This is what disciplines your dog. Your offer the dog a sense of direction and authority. You must always keep your leadership role with your dog. Now I do not mean you must be this cruel military general. You can play with your pup and have fun. Just remember to constantly remind the dog that you are the authority.

Dog obedience training serves as the method that starts and develop this relationship. Without this training your dog will often feel that there is no such relationship. This will lead to more and more behavior problems and you will find it very difficult to even live with your dog much less walk around in public with him/her.

You can get all the dog training advice in the world. However a lot of times you just get steps and methods to follow with out knowing why you need to follow them and how it affects your dog. It is extremely helpful to look at the dog's point of view. How does he/she feel when you do instruct it to do something. How the dog responds to your moods, tone, commands and why. Having this understanding will make for a better training experience for you and your puppy.

Do you have a dog that gets very aggressive at times? Well dog obedience training helps to calm this aggression by developing that leadership relationship and giving your dog a sense of order and discipline. The last thing we want is a dog to start fights with other dogs and bark at neighbors or guests.

Knowing that your dog is under your control without a shadow of a doubt is a very good feeling. You will never have to worry about him/her getting out of control and doing something that would embarrass you or put you in a bad situation.
